Illustrator and Concept Artist
My name is Pedro Amato, I am an American-born and Brazillian-raised human.
In 2017 I graduated from Emily Carr University with a BFA in Illustration.
Also in 2017 I was part of the design team at DHX studios for the upcoming MegaMan TV show and since then I've been working for Jester Coyote in several animation projects. In 2015 I had an informative stay at Vetor Zero Studios, as an in-house concept artist.
I have experience in fantasy illustrations for card-games such as Lord of the Rings and Star Wars trading card games. I also contributed with illustrations for Nature Medicine magazine, movie posters and several personal commissions.
For two years I operated as the manager for Daisho Workshops in Vancouver, a small enterprise that offers guidance from professionals in the industry at an affordable price and a close, warm environment.
I love to experience stories, be it in a book describing a world down to its last detail or in a video-game with purposely vague lore. I also like making my own stories and transcribing them into paintings. I do my best to channel what I experience in life into emotions for my illustrations, (a non-literal process) in the hopes that whoever looks at it can feel what I once felt, and fill in the details and meanings as their own imagination sees fit.
